Insect Ark - Long Arms

Creeping, morose, soul searching from the one woman Insect Arms project of Dana Schechter with Long Arms, on Geweih Ritual Documents. Heavy..., emotionally, not in terms of instrumentation. Three tracks that just pull and drag at your feet, clawing at you to be absorbed fully inside their blackness. Aching percussion, extended yawning strings that bellow and seeth. From gentrification perspective, we're talking something between the astral drones of the midwestern tape scene, and the dank cellar dwelling of european dark ambience. But really, this one is it's own thing. It has a tangible, personal, nature. Something you can connect with an feel like it was your own. And great records do that. They make you examine your own emotion reflected back and you. Like a daydream of a midnight stretch of highway in rural northern New Mexico. Get lost and never come back, they won't miss you, you won't miss them.

As always Bradley from Geweih delivers the physical manifestation as a living breathing hand crafted extension of the sonic experience. 10" black vinyl housed in a three color screen printed fold around jacket (keeps the record from slipping out, and looks dynamite). Digital download included, by way of a matching and fully printed CD, which if you ask me, is the most top shelf way to do a digital version I've seen from a small label. Goblin Guts - Global Cuts [vol.1]

I'm not quite sure what to make of this tape, except that I like it. It's all over the map both stylistically and instrumentally. Global Cuts [vol.1] from Goblin Guts is a mix of trippy smoothed out instrumentals and swaggering off kilter beats of which it is not possible to keep from nodding your head. Just when you get comfortable on the front half on tracks that sounds something like outtakes from lazy Sunday drives in Malibu, you get whipped around into an experimental whilwind of up and down tempo on the flip. Right at the intersection of groovy and challenging. A congealed mix of extremely creative and highly listenable stuff.

Absolutely stunning handmade packaging. Fold around cardboard case along with double sided cardboard "slides", one for each song. You can even create custom covers by changing out the slides and placing them behind the circular cutout. The previous packaging from GRD for Knalpot was incredible, this is completely insane. Knalpot - Sauce + Serious Outtakes

Continued custom packaged madness from Geweih Ritual Documents. Sick twisted love child of funk, rock, and your favorite DAW taken past the logical extreme. Sounds like a Spiritual Beggars track played backwards through an NES emulator with the vocals EQ'd out. There is just no standing still on these tapes. Every single moment is a shift in tone, time signature, or instrumentation, and possibly both or all three at once. Don't like it, just wait five seconds, and if you do like it, plenty more on the way. In a big way. Bigger, brighter, and a heck of a lot more aggressive that most everything else I tend to be posting, but I consider that my fault. It's time for your speakers to earn their keep.

Totally over the top fold around covers, custom printing, painting,.. maybe stenciling? I have absolutely no idea how these guys get the finite detail around the skull on Sauce so perfect, but it's just stinkin awesome. Jah Connery / Palo Verde / Cinder Cone on Geweih Ritual

Audio and visual madness from new custom art wizards and tape label Geweih Ritual Documents. Twisted beat work compliments of Jah Connery, with Killa Tape. 13 tracks of thick nasty beat scene vibes, enclosed in the sickest mummified hand graphic possible. Compelling sound collage mixed with smooth swagger and eerie melodic elements. I think the Zombies that have been chasing you home stopped off to twist a few knobs on their blood soaked controller.

Palo Verde and Cinder Cone share a split cassette which actually tops the complexity of the Jah Connery packaging, with a fold out enclosure, complete with stitched graphic, and hand painted cardboard cases. Both sides of the tape consist of fuzzed out, progressive, genre bending metal. Palo Verde works wonders with walls of noise caked guitar work, heavy riffing, and frantic improvised drumming. On the flip, Cinder Cone channels an up tempo post rock approach. Propelling the sounds forward with waves of melodic riffing, and an engaging sense of improvisation, before breaking into a whirlwind of percussion to close the tape.
