Horror Fiction Tapes - HF07 Sindre Bjerga & HF08 German Army

Two new releases available from the in house label Horror Fiction Tapes. Two more artists I'm incredibly excited to have on the label. Thank you to everyone for their support, I cannot express my appreciation enough. Grab these over on the H/F site.

HF07 Sindre Bjerga - Mutual Illusions

Improvised live manipulations from Norwegian composer Sindre Bjerga. Tape recorders, dictaphones, contact mics and microphones all captured raw over three separate performance spaces. Decontextualized samples stretched and scraped across the screaming howling mouth of an uncertain destination. Enlightenment gained in the margins.

Forty five hand assembled copies, professionally dubbed on chrome tape. Inserts duplicated directly on individual pages of a 1967 copy of the novel The Amsirs And The Iron Throne, by Algis Budrys.

HF08 German Army - Socotra Scripture

Caustic ritual suffocation from the mysterious and prolific duo of German Army. Something unknowable, that refuses to remain unknown. Rejections of anonymity. A heaving vomiting awareness of all that has been ignored, purging innocence through sonic abuse. Twelve exhibits, twelve sets of eyes entranced by the flames.

Forty five hand assembled copies, professionally dubbed on chrome tape. Inserts duplicated directly on individual pages of a 1962 copy of the novel The Wizard Of Linn, by A.E. Van Vogt.

German Army - S/T

Minimalist industrial deconstruction from German Army on Trapdoor Tapes. Not exactly sure if this is self titled, untitled, or otherwise... or if it really even matters. A lot of what you'd expect from the extremely prolific German Army project. Deconstructed because it feels like tearing down the tropes of Industrial, discarding the pomp it became and embracing the visciously counter culture aesthetic it intended. Claustrophobic, jagged compositions, slightly off kilter percussion overlapped by harsh oscillation. 12 tracks that move with patience, creeping and lurching stalking deliberately through the soundscape. Occasional vocals that seems to create a detached narrative, sounding to me not so much a participant in the recordings as an observer of them. Everything feels crammed right up against you, subtly eroding comfort, slyly introducing new and unexpected samples and instrumentations until you've stopped trying to make sense of it all.

Edition of 50 on black shells, photocopy collage jcard in b/w. Very minimal physical product that associates perfectly with the vibe on this one. Grab direct from Trapdoor Tapes.

German Army - Millerite Masai

An intersection of post industrial and hallucinatory noise from German Army with Millerite Masai on Yerevan Tapes. Dense claustrophobic rhythm twisted inside out and played over a morass of pitch altered vocal samples. Some of it feels pretty abstract, a nightmare slowed down to single digit RPM's. Like that moment where the power goes out with an LP on, and the 2 seconds it takes for the turntable to come to a stop turns even the most upbeat recording drug addled and bizarre. Filthy and dark without being murky, not a single track of the thirteen sounds anything like the rest. The stand out of the group, Island Breath combines urgent immediate percussion with a rather unexpected reverberating guitar line. It packs true emotional punch, and ties the rest of this abstract and unfriendly sound together in a digestible context.

Edition of 100, full color jcard plain red shells indicated a/b by a single sticker. Glossy insert card included. Grab direct from Yerevan, or stream in full and purchase on Bandcamp.
