Ant'lrd - Biblioteca Nod Out

Noisy outsider ambience from Ant'lrd with Biblioteca Nod Out on Baro Records. Last time I checked in the Ant'lrd project, things were blissful. Sunday in the lazy chair glistening guitar mush. This time around it's a bit more challenging. Rough hewn pieces that stick out like jagged edges from a ball of drenched fuzzy melody, scraping a bit as they swirl and twist into your consciousness. A healthy dose of obfuscation and vagary that clouds the judgement of some really fantastic ambient underpinnings. To me, the eight tracks contained feel like a collection of like minded one off compositions and orphan recordings. None of them quite "fit", but still feel acquainted. Sounds that love each other but aren't quite in love if you catch my cliche'd drift. And it makes for an interesting listen. Harsh for the soft crowd or vice versa. The closing pair of tracks A Mellow Hum for Cycling in the City Pt.1 and Pt.2 are where I made the most of things, hazy undulating repetition and all.

Edition of 100, pro dubbed a duplicated on solid orange. Can't quite figure out the art on this, but I love it. Looks like some sort of peyote fueled field party. Stream in full and grab direct from the Baro Bandcamp.

Ant'lrd - Extra Domicile

Dense, glimmering fragments from Ant'lrd, with Extra Domicile on Baro Records. Delicate flicker and distortion, like rays of sunshine causing lens flare within the ear. Indiscernible instrumentation that walks that line of might-be-guitar-might-be-synth quite nicely. It all sounds wonderfully spontaneous with what appear to be carefully included bits of of noise culled from the production. You can sense both the sounds, and the creation of the sounds. An inclusive style of recording that brings the listener closer to the recording. The second half of tape is essential (as much as I hate the descriptor), a magnificent evolution from a trail of limited barely there sonics in to a massive undulating wave of melody. A bit gritty and droned out before closing in a haze of found sound and acoustic guitar. Summer days staring up at the celling fan in the three season room.

Blue shells, double sided jcard, edition of 100, full color liner notes. Mine included a sweet little sticker that currently occupies space confusing the hell out of the general population tacked to the cork board of my cubicle. Baro Records - Compilation 001

So I'm not exactly sure how to promote this. At eleven total artists, I can't really pin this down to easy description. I've gotten my hands on the excellent, Kickstarter funded, first compilation from Baro Records, Compilation 001. Baro (Breathing and Receiving Oxygen) has flown under my radar thusfar, despite reviewing something from Bre'r (a Baro regular) on (cave) recordings in 2012. That's completely my failing as humble curator of this place. The label aesthetic seems to land squarely in the dreamy, glitched, guitar and ambience space. Lots of really chill and challenging vibes here. Sounds like forward thinking memories of a perfect day.

Pressing of 500, printing on top of old record sleeves, rad green and black vinyl. Don't repeat my mistake, pick up a post kickstarter copy of the comp here, and and dig everything Baro right here.
