Strange Mountain - Forgiveness

Heads up on a pair of releases (see below for the second) in the new batch out on Ginjoha. First up, lush and expansive dreamscapes from Strange Mountain with Forgiveness. Indeed as the title would indicate, this selection of tracks offers the beauty one might expect in an ambient release, but tempered with a very measured sense of reservation and thoughtful contemplation. The kind of emotional peace hard won at the ultimate realization of letting go. Perhaps I'm seeing to literally into these tracks. At their surface these are enjoyed easily as meditation music, but I think there is more here. Not just the act and appreciation of meditation but the rewards of a life spent focused on mindfulness and acceptance. Broad wavering lines of synth, softly incorporated found sound. Purity.

Edition of 75, full color inserts complimented by slightly transparent labels. You can grab it as I did along with the rest of a fantastic 4 tape batch directly from Ginjoha.

No sound sample I'm afraid, please head to the label for a clip!

Andreas Brandal - The Nightmare Note

Next up in this two part (see above for the first) Ginjoha update, is a maze of chaotic elements from tape scene veteran Andres Brandal, with The Nightmare Note. Howling, chugging, swirling noise that remains completely musical, and totally engrossing. I can't tell you how excited I was to see a new release crop up somewhere from Brandal. His maturity as an artist is easily apparent, the way complex layered elements of all moods and tones melt seamlessly into single compositions. I find many artists can do "pretty" sounds, and many can do, "harsh", but a very few can do both in a single release. A points, this feels ambient and light, and at others mechanical and overwhelming, but it always returns to a center balance between opposing poles. This is another level. Can't recommend this highly enough to fans of both sides of that spectrum.

Limited to 75 copies on sparkly silver. Printed labels, single sided full color inserts. Very tastefully presented. Grab direct from Ginjoha.

No sound sample I'm afraid, please head to the label for a clip!

Wind in Willows - Deepness In The Sky

Breathtaking ambient synth constructions from Wind in Willows, with Deepness In The Sky on Ginjoha. Patient, quiet, warm, everything an ambient release ought to be. Nothing harsh, nothing abrasive, pure beautiful melodic miasma. Undulating, pulsing audio cocoons that breathe. A conversation between the stars, translated in Russian, and delivered from Japan. I had a dream I wandered deep into the forest to find an abandoned planetarium. I looked through the telescope, blacked out, and awoke with this tape.

Grabbed directly from Ginjoha where it is now sold out. Scour the distros my friends. Or alternately, dig on Bandcamp
