Kot Kot - кунь

Charming swirls of organic instrumentation and manipulated loops. It all sounds quote mysterious and yet completely familiar. Hallucinatory tribal jamming echoing in the distance pulsating to the rhythm of a single drum. Delicate vocals that wander across the soundscape. Bits of decontextualized guitar and assorted found sound juxtaposing it all. There's a communal feeling to this, as through it's the singular thought process of a ecosystem. The combined experience of man and nature. Forest creatures inhabiting the remains of an abandoned city. Squirrels living in side broken radios or something like that. This is a tape for imagining.

Edition of 50 copies in white. Rough brown stock, in a "L" configuration. Not sure if lcards are a thing, but this only covers the spine and doesn't wrap around the back. Very nicely presented liner notes that I can't read at all. I grabbed from Tomentosa who's now out, but you can still snag direct from Jozik

Olli Aarni - Pohjoisen Kesä

Soft, strikingly beautiful ambience from Olli Aarni, with Pohjoisen Kesä, on Jozik Records. Two side long tracks that mark a stunning balance between shimmering, cloud-like melody, and warbled, damaged, almost disintegrating production. Eerily touching and sublimely listenable. I have yet to hear a piece from Aarni, either under his own name, or the Ous Mal moniker that doesn't immediately transfer me into a cloud like dream state. The liner notes state "RM radio, wine glass, tapes, etc. Recorded with one hand."

Hand stamped and numbered edition of fifty in soft poly cases. Grab directly from Jozik.

Wet Eyes - Clepto Journals

Organic, naturalistic sounds compliments of Wet Eyes, with Clepto Journals on Jozik Records. Delicate layers of electric guitar and stringed instruments in various states of treatment, complimented by occasional mid tempo percussion. Sort of a deconstructed and re-imagined post-post-rock. Hypnotic, lush, and remarkably tranquil. Ideal audial accompaniment for thoughtful days in the warm spring breeze. Grabbed my walkman, laid back on a pillow of green moss and gazed upward through pine boughs at the passing clouds.

The entire new batch remains available directly from Jozik, although with runs of as few as 40 tapes, I can't imagine that situation will continue for long. Charming cloth sleeves and matching liner notes.

905, Sacred Phrases, Jozik (Freebies!)

A set of three freebies from three of my absolute favorite tape labels. Spectrum Tickets on 905 Tapes, Christopher Merritt on Sacred Phrases, and an Ous Mal / Punktieren / Coaxil split from Jozik Records. Sounds on these tapes run the spectrum from noisy, to glitched out, and downright melodic. Killer artists, killer labels.

If you have interest, simply email me at guidemelittletape at gmail dot com. The set will be given out on a first contact basis. No catch, just check out these labels and support these artists!

Gone to Martin from Pennsylvania as of 4/4. Thanks and enjoy!

Tulasi / Caligine - Split

New split cassette from Jozik Records of Finland. Side A from Tulasi floats amid washes of flute, organ, bits of percussion, and assorted electronic shimmer. At some moments ritualistic, and at others rooted firmly in acoustic folk. Side B from Caligine offers an elegant juxtaposition to Tulasi. Heavy guitar drones and feedback scorch across the soundstage, before collapsing into a series of moving acoustic melodies to close the tape.

I purchased directly from Jozik along with the rest of their new 3 tape batch, and received a hand written thank you, and free copy of an existing release as a bonus.
